American Guns

~July 25th, 2012

Reality television is everywhere and the last subject you would think that would be covered by this current prime time rage is guns. There are at least three shows on big cable channels that have regular programs based on firearms. Discovery Channel’s American Guns is one of these shows and at the end of last year Jason “The Hustler” Huss was invited to be a guest in a segment of season two.

Episode 5 (shown out of order) starts off with The Hustler’s visit to Gun Smoke with his Auto-Ordnance Thompson 1927A-1. Looking for some upgrades he suggested shortening the stock and barrel and a trigger job. Kurt Wyatt then suggested an additional modification to lower the weight… Click here to view the store visit.

After the gunsmithing was completed The Hustler met up with the Wyatts at a range in Sedalia, CO to take possession of his Tommy Gun and for a couple of extra surprises… Click here to view the range visit.

If you missed the show as The Hustler mostly did (he caught the last half in a truck stop in Salina, KS on the way to OFASTS), it re-airs periodically on the Discovery Channel. You may be able to catch it then or DVR it like he had to do in order to catch the entire episode. Enjoy!

American Guns is one of my favorite reality shows and trust me, it’s a short list. The time and energy that goes into making a gun added to the incredible results make this an excellent show. I’m not home when this show airs so I normally set my DVR and then try to watch it a few days later. You know how that goes: life gets in the way. So a Dish co-worker suggested trying the remote access app for my iPad which allows me to stream live TV or anything I’ve recorded through the Sling Adapter. It works great with the Hopper and it’s so easy to use. That way I don’t have to wait to watch the newest episode: I can just watch it on the train ride home! American Guns always finds a way to keep me entertained and it really makes me appreciate the art of building a fine gun.
