Rule Changes Coming Soon

The AZSA will be making changes to its rules before the season gets under way. Currently they are displayed as edition 1.0.0. They should be 2.0.0 but the first major changes to the original rules were not made before clubs were formed and they were not officially announced. There may be enough changes made that the new edition will be 3.0.0. If not, they will be edition 2.1.0.

Start a Zoot Shooters Club

The formation of American Zoot Shooters Association (AZSA) clubs is the best way to expand our organization. Additional clubs allow for people to get involved in Zoot Shooters on a local level without the need to travel to participate in our sport. Currently we have five clubs in four US states and one in Italy. We need more!

100th Anniversary of the 1911!

Next year marks the 100th anniversary of John Moses Browning’s swell 1911 pistol. This platform has been hitting on all sixes for almost 100 years! With 2011 right around the corner, many manufacturers will be offering something to commemorate the occasion. One 1911 builder, Cylinder & Slide Inc. has such a gun in mind.

Gangster Gear

American Zoot Shooters Association is a shooting sport at its core and in order to call yourself a shooting sport you must involve firearms within competition. Zoot Shooters also portrays the 1920s-1930s and without costumes this would be difficult to do. Therefore, dressing up is equally as important as the period correct guns. In this article I will be discussing three important things next to the “Chicago Typewriter” and they are costumes, holsters and eyewear.
